The following officials participated in the Conference: Arseniy Yatseniuk, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Marek Sivec, Vice-President of the European Parliament, Borys Tarasiuk, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on European Integration, Oleh Bilorus, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Foreign Affairs, Chairmen (Heads) of the Deputy Groups of Friendship between the parliaments of Ukraine and the EU member States, the representatives of the European Parliament, leaders of the central executive bodies of Ukraine, leaders of diplomatic representations accredited in Ukraine, the representatives of public organizations.
The participants discussed cooperation between The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the European Parliament and the Parliaments of the EU members States. They also dwelled upon political, social and economic cooperation between Ukraine and the EU.
A.Yatseniuk underscored that "a new extended treaty between Ukraine and the EU should define new principles, approaches, and efficient methods of cooperation". .
A.Yatseniuk considers energy safety as another priority direction of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed his hopes that negotiations between Ukraine and the EU regarding conclusion of a new extended treaty would result in "a very close integration".
B.Tarasiuk dwelled upon the issues that are of interest both for Ukraine, and the EU. Thus he deems necessary to discuss the development of energy projects with Ukraine´s participation, since the EU enhances its energy safety.
He also calls for extension of liaison between The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the national parliaments of the EU member states within the scope of inter-committee cooperation and exchange of groups of friendship.
